Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you… that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures

- 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

The English word "gospel" means good news. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus has come to pay for your sins. This is good news indeed because we all have a debt of sin that we cannot pay. We need the perfect, spotless Lamb of God to pay the debt we owe to God for our sins.

As soldiers of Christ, we believe that our 'marching orders' are to share this good news with others. One common outline of the gospel is found in the Romans Road:

  • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

  • For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)

  • But God demonstrates His own love for us, in the while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

  • Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

  • There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
