Dave Muntsinger grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and at the age of 17, through the ministry of Young Life, heard that Jesus loved him and died for his sins. The Lord brought him to faith by working through the breakdown of personal relationships and the divine healing of a knee injury. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Theology in Pastoral Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He believes that worship is to be theocentric, engaging and participatory. The church is to be driven by the gospel as a loving and welcoming, outward-facing, missional, team-based community of faith. His objectives of pastoral ministry are found in Acts 20:28; which is to oversee the people of God, to obey the Holy Spirit, to serve the church diligently and to regard Christ tenderly. He believes that the pastor is a leader, teacher, equipper and shepherd (Eph. 4:11) who invests in the lives of people by providing spiritual direction and nurturing. This is accomplished by preaching and believing the gospel, understanding and relating to our culture, loving members of the church and providing real answers to the real issues of life.
Before coming to Spring Cypress, he had been the Pastor of Spiritual Development at a PCA church of 1,000 members since 2002. He was responsible for Home Groups, Adult Learning Communities, Men's Ministries and other pastoral duties. He also taught prominent weekly Sunday morning classes and led a weekly home group. He developed training curriculum and trained 50 leaders for Home Groups. Under his direction the Home Group Ministry grew from 300 to 500 people. He was also responsible for coordinating and implementing large church-wide discipleship conferences on marriage, child training and other subjects. During his time at that church he developed new ministries such as a greeter ministry, a premarital training and mentoring ministry and a seminary care and assistance ministry.
His lovely wife Jana graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Administration in Journalism and Marketing.
Dave and Jana have 3 chidren: Jack (10), Ford (6), and Kate (4).
