Mercy Ministries

Mercy and care needs are generally defined as physical needs.  They are needs that are not met through conversation or words, but primarily through deeds or action.  These mercy deeds are evidence of true faith in our Savior Jesus Christ who came to earth to serve, not to be served, and who calls us to serve others through His example.

The mercy ministries of our church are derived from and find structure in the purpose statement of our church:

SCPC is an outreaching community built on Jesus Christ and His word.

  • Committed to God,
  • Caring for one another, and
  • Communicating God's love to the world.

Care providers for our Mercy Ministries are volunteers from the body who act to assist in meeting needs through deeds.  The Diaconate has primary responsibility for mercy ministries.  The care providers are organized and directed through the SCPC Diaconate.  Needs are communicated to the Diaconate directly by the needy party, or by church family, friends, and/or church staff.  Our Women's Ministries assist the Diaconate by coordinating meals and maintaining the prayer chain.
