John comes from a music and ministry focused family.  Out of 18 cousins, 16 are PKs (pastor's kids) and 12 of them are actively involved in ministry, including pastors, deacons, music directors and church musicians.

John has been at SCPC since January 200 and jokingly tells everyone that he is THE senior staff member.  He enjoys being on the piano and organ benches every Sunday while providing music for worship.  His motto is that he "should not be noticed during worship since music should enhance, not detract, from the worshiper's experience."  The best comment that he can receive is when a worshiper says that the music moved them to a closer relationship with the Lord during worship.

John loves encouraging people to become more involved in the music ministry of the church and is excited that several of the youth are providing music for worship.  He wants to be able to have the next generation of musicians prepared to lead in worship as they go out into the world.

John loves spending time with his new wife, Jan, his daughter, Megan, when she is able to come visit, playing softball and just relaxing!  He is always on the lookout for a new Hawaiian shirt to wear at church.
